A Safe Year for Teen Girls At Risk

Provide teen girls at risk with El HaLev courses, equipping them with an effective, lifesaving toolkit for dealing with physical and emotional violence and threats. The COVID-19 crisis has brought about a massive rise in the scope of domestic violence in Israel. Sadly, teen girls at risk are particularly exposed to high rates of violence and are now at an even greater risk of physical, sexual, and emotional harm. El HaLev wishes to provide as many at-risk teen girls as possible with Empowerment Self-Defense courses, presenting them with effective tools to maintain physical and emotional boundaries, prevent sexual assault and avoid interpersonal violent situations. Our courses are sought after by leading welfare organizations and institutions and have been successfully delivered in hundreds of boarding houses, safehouses, hostels, and youth villages throughout the country, for over a decade. The course includes five sessions, tailored to at-risk teen girls’ experiences and needs, and provides its participants with a unique and effective toolkit critical for dealing with various forms of violence, including that afflicted by acquaintances and strangers, violence in the public sphere and in social circles, verbal harassment, emotional violence, social pressures, physical assault, and sexual abuse. In addition to our hands-on course, participants will be offered the option of taking part in an online course and receiving our physical and emotional skills for handling violent situations at the time and place of their choice.
