Magen- Shining a Light on the Silent Pandemic

Magen is here to offer support and direction for individuals, families, and communities who are affected by the painful and confusing social ill that is sexual abuse. Magen is the sole organization that offers comprehensive services for all members of the community affected by sexual abuse; educational materials and events, advice, referrals and funding for professional mental health services, advocacy in working with law enforcement, and investigative services. Magen also operates the #Lo_Tishtok Facebook page which offers a space for the voices of survivors. The ongoing lockdowns and social isolation many are experiencing through the Covid-19 pandemic has created a crisis in all areas relating to sexual abuse and violence. Victims cannot access their usual therapy and services, law enforcement offices are increasingly short staffed with ongoing criminal investigations indefinitely paused, PTSD symptoms are compounded by anxiety and depression, and many victims and survivors are in significant danger as they isolate with their abusers. Since last March and the start of the pandemic and lockdowns, we have experienced an increase of 30- 50% in the number of services and cases reported and required each month. Your donation will allow Magen and its staff to continue to help the hundreds of victims during this crisis, and ensure that each victim and their families receive the support they so desperately need.
