A Tablet for Every Child

The COVID-19 crisis presents us all with difficult challenges, but one section of the populations that suffer most due to the pandemics are children and teens. Think about Ronnie, a young middle school student. For a year now, Ronnie has been forced to stay at home, unable to see her classmates, without opportunity to acquire crucial social skills. Ronnie has not met with her teacher for a year and is currently becoming more and more transparent by the day. Now, think of a situation where Roni, like hundreds of thousands of children and teenagers in Israel, does not have access to a computer. She connects to the ZOOM lessons via the small screen of a mobile phone and tries to find her place among the 40 other students in her class. She has no access to the study materials and additional resources; She has no ability to see and communicate with the rest of her classmates during class; She is unable to type up and submit assignments, as she is required to do. According to the State Comptroller's report, approximately 135,000 boys and girls, just like Ronnie, do not have access to a computer. These children usually come from low-income families, who are experiencing this crisis to the greatest extent. We, students in the ISEF in the Jerusalem program, are working to change this unfortunate situation – with your help. We set a goal of raising 10,000 NIS, with which we will be able to provide 10 children with large tablets, keyboards, and headphones. Your contribution will bring us closer to this goal and together we can provide these children with equal opportunities to regain a normal, saner routine.
