Finding Their Voices

There is a good reason that you are viewing this page. It is the fact that you wish to help, contribute and change others’ lives for the better. We, in Curtain Call, feel the same and are happy to be able to do so every single day. We help at-risk youth and children, people with special needs, single mothers, Arab and Jewish families in the cycle of poverty, new immigrants and people from Ethiopia . We help them believe in themselves, learn practical skills for life, be heard and take the way of growth, success and a better future! Why doesn’t he Successful in school? Why doesn’t she go to work or get better working conditions? Why doesn’t he exhaust his rights? Why is she ashamed of herself? Why is he scared to speak? Why is she violent? These questions must be familiar to you. Youth and children at-risk and socially excluded adults carry heavy burden and a low self-esteem. We believe that in order to break this circle and to experience a real change they first need to have a safe place to freely express themselves, to open up and let go. A place to process their social and emotional experiences. A place to show their strengths. A place to develop responsibility, listening and communication skills. A place to be heard, to experience what success feels like and be appreciated by others. This place is the STAGE. The participants in the Community Based Theater experience personal and social empowerment during this significant process. For the participants, a foray into Community-Based Theater and Cinema can be life-changing, as it increases self-confidence, self-awareness, and self-worth, and validates individual experiences. The change that the participants experience affects directly on their studies, exhaustion of their rights, work, family relations, breaking stereotypes and behavioral changes like: strengthening their sense of Self-efficacy, violence reduction and accepting the Other. Join our cause and support it. Help the children, the young, the women and men to look straight once again, to raise their voices, to rightfully deserve the crowds applauds and to generate real personal and social change.
