This hike is an opportunity to meet, fundraise, hike and be amazed by the views of the Dead Sea Your funds will provide trainings and income opportunities for women, farmers, youth and teachers--as we work to change rural villages in crisis to places of opportunity. As you register for the hike you pay your registration (through PayPal) and you are welcome to donate any amount of money as you are able. ------Here is a list of projects you can sponsor------ >Woman Health and Sanitation Workshop Target Group: 100 women per month in 2 workshops trainings, overall 800 women. Required Funding: $ 2500 About the Program: Access to proper healthcare and medical knowledge is low in rural areas. This results in an array of medical conditions that basic access to healthcare would solve. For example, many women in rural Nepal go back to work in the field only days after giving birth, which in many cases results in uterine prolapse. We work on raising awareness about reproductive health issues and training local health volunteers with proper tools to support their fellow women. The workshop will address various women related issues such as gender based violence, sexual and reproductive health, cervical cancer and uterine prolapse. Program's Objectives: To provide crucial information on various women health issues and knowledge and skills on health care and sanitation. To increase the health service seeking behavior among the women. >Women Group Strengthening and Leadership Enhancement Target Group: 100 women per month in 2 workshops trainings, overall 800 women. Required Funding: $ 1700 About the Program: Tevel works with women to help them create change in their own communities and families in various means. One of them is women- only group meetings, where they can share their thoughts and concerns, support and collaborate with each other. The meeting are held on a weekly basis and guided by our professional Nepali staff. In the meetings the women acquire vital tools such as; coping with trauma, child and women rights, knowledge about healthcare and rights, and financial knowledge allow them to operate more effectively and even create their own micro-financing program. Program's Objectives: To aware and empower the women about their rights. To provide a platform for the rural women to come out of their homes and voice their needs and concern. To increase women’s participation at community level decision making. Establish microfinancing loan bank >Agriculture Training Target Group: 100 farmers in 4 training groups Required Funding: $ 900 About the Program: The training program will provide practical tools for more efficient and profitable agriculture techniques. The farmers will learn specialized agriculture trainings such as nursery making, plastic tunnel making, mulching techniques, bio-pesticides and bio-fertilizers making and insect-pestmanagement. Program's Objectives: To promote agriculture as a sustainable means of improved livelihood for marginalized farmers. To provide the promising farmers with essential agro tools and technologies to become a commercial farmer. To give practical tools for soil fertilization and prevention of soil overuse which reduces the yields. >Agriculture mentoring program Target Group: 4 groups with 25 members each month. Required Funding: $ 650 About the Program: Tevel Focusing on significantly increasing agriculture production for food security and income generation for marginalized farmers who are struggling to provide the basic needs of their families. The program mentors are highly skilled staff, under the guidance of Dr.Bishnu Chapagain, PhD inagricultural science. Program's Objectives: To disseminate simple agriculture knowledge and skills To get information regarding agriculture related problems from the farmers and to provide solutions To mobilize group saving funds of agriculture groups >Youth Homework clubs Target Group: 2 homework clubs for 40 students from poor economic background and with lower learning achievement. Required Funding: $ 500 About the Program: Homework Club is a successful initiative that sees students gather after school to work collaboratively on their studies in a relaxed yet productive setting. Students are encouraged to study in groups so that they are able to support each other with their homework and subject revision. Program's Objectives: To provide necessary assistance to the students with lower learning achievement in their educational assignments. To offer a stable alternative for students who lack a proper studying designated area at home, and provide a positive and enhancing studying experience. >Teachers training on teaching methodologies Target Group: 10 teachers. Required Funding: $ 650 About the Program: In 2017, 80 primary school teachers from 25 schools participated in our professional teachers training that focused on enhancing children's learning skills. Seeing the fruits of this successful program, we would like to continue providing teachers from rural public schools with educational assistance with an emphasis on Child Friendly Inclusive Teaching- creating an effective and inclusive classroom aiming to develop a learning environment in which children are motivated and able to learn, explore and are encouraged to pursue education beyond the course of elementary school. Program's Objectives: To provide the teachers of rural public schools with the child friendly teaching techniques. >Youth Groups Mobilization Target Group: 100 youth per month. Required Funding: $ 600 About the Program: The program is similar to scout movement, which is a new concept in Nepal. The aim is to create a support system led by young people intheir physical, mental and spiritual development. The children are spending time together in small groups with shared experiences, rituals, and activities. They are guided by senior youngsters about decision-making, leadership and social responsibility in designated meeting centers. Program's Objectives: To provide the youths the tools and knowledge of youth leadership. To help youths find the pressing issue of their concern in their community.
