Beit Natan Therapeutic Retreat for Recovery

After over 18 months of virtual programming, Beit Natan staff, volunteers and clients are looking forward to the upcoming Therapeutic Retreat for Recovery for Couples. Beit Natan Therapeutic Retreats for Couples are designed to provide couples in which one spouse has been diagnosed with cancer with an opportunity to participate in a three-day respite that promotes recovery and improves quality of life. Regardless of whether the cancer patient is 25 or 72, his or her life changed forever when diagnosed with cancer. The retreat provides an opportunity to learn to cope with the changes, with programs, seminars and activities that offer a temporary refuge from the stresses of everyday life and enable participants to recharge their emotional and physical energy while strengthening the marital relationship and hopefully developing a new sense of self-awareness and a positive outlook for the future. This takes place while enjoying each other’s company in peaceful, pastoral surroundings, and meeting others who are coping with similar issues. Past participants agree that the Couples Retreat is energizing and enables them to better cope with the struggle ahead. All Beit Natan programs are heavily subsidized, and many participants are currently experiencing unanticipated financial difficulties due to loss of income and/or expenses due to their illness. The situation of many clients has been further complicated by the pandemic, resulting in a greater need for additional subsidies than ever before. It is Beit Natan policy to never turn clients away due to inability to pay, but it is truly a struggle to maintain this policy at present.
