Vocation and Expression through Art
Donors: 1
The Filmmaking Track for Ultra-Orthodox Women is a vocational track in filmmaking which equips the participants with the tools needed to successfully enter the workforce as creators of documentaries, short films and videos for business advertisements, family celebrations and community events. Some graduates have opened their own small PR films or teach filmmaking in their community schools and others have entered the Israeli industry writing and producing in workshops established by Israeli film foundations.
Over 80% of the course graduates are gainfully employed using the filmmaking skills acquired in the course.
Beyond the practical aspects, The Ultra-Orthodox Track is opening a door to bring the arts into Hareidi society as a means of expression. Films produced by the graduates are also creating opportunities for outsiders to see an honest portrayal of the Ultra-Orthodox sector of Israeli society. Their films are screened annually to full houses in the Jerusalem Jewish Film Festival.
