LeMa’anam provides easily accessible individualized medical care of the highest quality, free of charge, to all Holocaust survivors living in Israel today. The organization was founded in the wake of the COVID pandemic, to provide a tangible solution to the dire need of Holocaust survivors who were struggling to leave their homes to recieve professional medical assistance. LeMa’anam provide free healthcare services for Holocaust Survivors in private clinics or in the comfort of the Survivor’s own home and furthermore voluntarily provisions, guides and supports Survivors in receiving medical treatments. The organization was initially founded in partnership with The Danielle Sonnenfeld Foundation. The Foundation launched by Danielle’s father Mr. Moti Sonnenfeld in memory of his daughter, is a natural extension of her legacy of giving and kindness. It has established its mission of promoting charity, health, medicine, and education, by financing new initiatives, projects and organizations and therefore was the initial supporting force of LeMa’anam. We urgently need your help and are seeking partners and donors to work with us to create a world where Israel’s Holocaust survivors are not forgotten nor neglected medically. Our goals are to continue to expand nationwide, to expand our medical network of volunteers, to improve our essential call centre, to purchase vital equipment for our medical staff and to establish our unique mobile clinics “Lema’anam on Wheels” which travel directly to the survivors’ home, in effect improving their wellbeing by reducing avoidable emergency department visits and unnecessary hospitalizations. Israel’s periphery where the biggest challenge we face is providing accessible medical care to more remote locations where Survivors reside. The generation of Holocaust survivors amongst us is decreasing in front of our very eyes, and might vanish within a decade or so, therefore now more than ever before, it is imperative for us to do whatever is possible to allow them the helping friendly hand, welfare, and good medical assistance for the remaining years of their lives.
