The Annual Fundraiser

Dear Neighbors As you know, “HACHOVESH HAR NOF”, the Neighborhood Emergency Response Organization, was initiated by the previous Bostoner Rebbe, Zt”l more than 30 years ago and has since operated continuously to be a source of security and calm for the Har Nof neighborhood, and indeed for all of Jerusalem. HaChovesh operates an advanced dispatch center on a 24/7 basis, and the residents of Har Nof benefit from a wide range of services, from emergency situations to search and rescue of missing loved ones, from children to the elderly. All of you recognize our singular and advanced ambulance (971), which we operate with a large team of Rapid Response physicians, paramedics and EMT’s. We also, in accordance with the decision of the local Rabbonim, maintain a “Shabbos Goy”, himself a highly-trained and experienced medical professional, at great cost; all this, in order to give the residents of Har Nof, while maintaining the strict standards of Halacha. In the past year, we conducted an intensive EMS course, and expect to significantly enlarge our medical team. Of course, we will need to supply these new medics with a full set of advanced medical equipment, in order to provide the best emergency response available Over the past 2 years, as a result of the ongoing Covid pandemic, the number of emergency calls requiring response has increased immensely. In the first waves, we were able to quickly obtain the necessary approvals, and thus we were able to perform Covid testing in the patient’s home, with full protective gear. HaChovesh invested enormous resources, both financial and manpower, in response to this new, great need, all in an effort to help the residents feel that they were not alone and that there was somewhere to turn to who would respond. Additionally, over the past 2 years, as a result of the Covid pandemic, we were able to carry out our annual fund-raising efforts only once, and that on a limited basis and now HaChovesh is left with empty coffers.
