The last twenty years have brought about remarkable advances in infertility technology. Many couples who previously would have remained childless are now blessed with children. Alongside these incredible scientific breakthroughs lies another less publicized reality. The tremendous emotional, physical and social strain that the couple, and particularly the woman, faces during this process. The repeated ultrasounds, blood tests, checkups and invasive procedures the woman must go through leave her feeling physically depleted and estranged from her body; the body that has betrayed her. She is in need of physical and emotional nurturing. Pregnancy Loss - Miscarriage at any stage of pregnancy can be difficult. Silent birth and loss of a child are difficult experiences. The importance of treating the body and mind is necessary in these situations. In order to support the process of emotional and physical rehabilitation, we at Merkaz panim offer a combined body and soul intervention for anyone who has experienced a loss of pregnancy or a quiet birth. It is important for us to accompany you through the process of rehabilitation and recovery and to provide a supportive environment. We have created PANIM, a non-profit organization in Jerusalem, to provide this nurturing. Due to the unique nature of fertility treatments, so intensely straining both physically and emotionally, we have created a model using a holistic approach. We help nurture and support the couple in this difficult time. Our services will include: • Social workers who are experts in the field of infertility and will give emotional support to the woman and couple, to help them acquire tools needed to face this challenge, • Holistic massage, to enable the woman to experience touch in a positive way, enabling a woman to reconnect with her body in an accepting atmosphere. • Personal trainers and yoga instructors to empower the woman through physical fitness, • We will also serve as an information and referral source to professionals in relevant fields. Above all, our goal is to help women going through the challenges of infertility feel that they are not alone. The center will be open to all women experiencing fertility challenges, offering affordable and subsidized rates.
