Arugot Child and Family Development Center was established close to 30 years ago in Haifa to further equal opportunities amongst children and youth from the lower socio-economic strata who suffer from developmental delays, emotional difficulties and learning disabilities. The Center works towards empowering parents and entire families.The vision of Arugot is to enable every child coping with a difficulty in one of the spheres of its expertise to be professionally assessed and treated, to utilize his potential and become part of mainstream society.Major Programs include:• Assessment and Therapy Center for 200 children and their parents who receive emotional therapies, paramedical treatments and didactic remedial tutoring, all taking place conveniently at one location. Parents benefit from parental guidance that has a positive impact on entire families. The Center is renowned for its professionalism, implementing the latest updated methods. For example, a unique Snoezelen Room is used for treating trauma - an innovation that evolved here at the Center. In addition, therapies such as Gardening Therapy, Pet Therapy and the use of a Therapeutic Kitchen are special features at the Center. Arugot helps families from the periphery of northern Israel receive up to date professional treatment at affordable prices. • In 2008 Arugot opened a second branch in Afula.• Early Childhood Center for 90 children comprising an Integrated Day Care Center and a Network of 4 Special-ed. Preschools.At the Integrated Day Care Center close to 40 children of working mothers participate in a full day program. Children with developmental delays learn side-by-side their typically developing peers. Children with delays are treated within the framework of the Center, while typically developing children learn to accept children who are different from them.Four developmental preschools help children with developmental delays overcome their problems. We boast a success rate of 75 – 85% of our graduates who continue to regular first grade classes.• Bridging Gaps for Ethiopian Immigrant Pupils in 3 Haifa Schools enhancing literacy skills and social integration.• Project for mothers and children living in a shelter for battered women – emotional therapies for mothers, didactic help for children.
