The Movement for Freedom of Information

The Movement for the Freedom of Information has promoted transparency in Israeli municipalities since 2004. The Movement was founded by a group of lawyers and media members led by journalist Raviv Drucker. It works to establish and ingrain the public's right to receive information of public concern by way of the Freedom of Information Act. It also defends the right to sue if that information is not accessible or to apply the Freedom of Information Act to the relevant topic. The right to information is crucial and allows the public to track the activities of government creating checks and balances, and thereby, a more honest and higher quality government. The Movement for the Freedom of Information is leading and promoting the transparency revolution in Israel. It is helping to return information to the hands of the public in order to strengthen Israeli democracy.
