Atid Batuah- The Public Council for the Prevention of Violence in Children and Youth

Dear Friends of Civil Society, Too many of the children and youth are victims of bullying, harassment and even emotional, physical and sexual abuse. We are in the middle of a struggle that will determine the character and future of both our youth and society in Israel. Our mission is to strengthen Israel's resilience and solidarity by developing our young leadership to combat these inner threats. The increase of both the number and severity of violent behaviors among our children is a major concern. It is the inner terrorism consuming us. "Atid-Batuah" is a forum of leading members in Israeli society acting to secure a better and safer future for our children and youth by developing their leadership skills and potential. The objectives of our programs are to choose, train, motivate and operate teams of young leaders who initiate projects aimed at ensuring a safer climate in their communities. Our mission is to implement the "young Leaders" programs in Municipalities in distress, with a high percentage of low income population - a mixture of newcomers from Russia, Ethiopia and native born Israelis. We have learned from eleven years of experience in implementing the project, and from the work of our highly skilled top expert volunteers, who provide both leadership and personal example, that the program provides an opportunity to influence large numbers of children, youngsters and students - directly and effectively, and develop their leadership skills – in order to create a safer future for them and for the state of Israel. Our programs are based on the "Active, Preventive Educational Strategies", developed by Abraham Hemmo and Mira Friedman Hemmo. These programs were adopted by the UN (The Cairo Convention, 1994). Our programs include:  “Young Leaders for a Secure Future” – Teams of youth and children initiate projects for a secure future in their schools and communities.  "Web Leaders for a Secure Future without Bullying" – Preventing bullying in the social media. Teams of Young Leaders who act for influencing the social web climate, locating bullies and victims – and referring them to professional authority.  “Secure-Future in our Town” – a unique, systemic program which incorporates all relevant municipal systems that are in charge of children and youngsters.  Decency in Sports- promoting fair and respectful sports, free of violence, incitement and racism. We have the power to prevent violence and create changes, not after our children become victims of violence, alcohol or drugs, but now, when we still have the opportunity to save our children.
