OneFamily was established in 2001 to address the human tragedies caused by the unending waves of Arab terror that shatters the lives of thousands of families in Israel. We are Israel’s premier privately-funded organization that serves the needs of Israel’s victims of terror, working hand-in-hand with Government agencies, providing crucial immediate and long term assistance that the government cannot. OneFamily works to empower each victim to achieve financial and emotional independence to reintegrate into society. We provide emotional, financial, and legal assistance programs geared uniquely toward each of the following: Orphans, Bereaved Parents, Widows and Widowers, Youth and Young Adults Bereaved and Injured. OneFamily is committed to strengthening the entire family unit. One of One Family’s two trademark innovations that revolutionizes trauma and bereavement care is “The Professional Friend”. Each family is assigned a professional, whose 24/7 availability, dedication and love raises their relationship with the victim of terror to that more aptly described as a “Professional Friend”. Our full time Professional Friends, therapists and hundreds of volunteers maintain close personal connections with each family and each family member affected by terror – working individually with parents, spouses, children, and siblings. OneFamily’s second innovation that revolutionizes Trauma and Bereavement care is the concept of “Companions in Destiny”. This is the belief that only people who have undergone a similar experience fully understand each other. Based on this principle, OneFamily’s healing methodology relies more upon extended group healing retreats, support groups and therapeutic camps than on one on one psychological treatments. Therefore OneFamily creates separate programs for each age group and each type of loss in which Bereaved Parents are grouped with other Bereaved Parents; Widows with Widows; young adults with young adults and youths with children their age. OneFamily currently supports 1926 injured families, 2182 bereaved families, 1988 bereaved, maimed and traumatized youth and young adults.
