Kibutz Bet Hashita

The association was established to raise funding for the renovation and operation of existing buildings alongside educational and community activities, to commemorate the legacy of our fallen civilians in the Israeli wars. As you may or may not know that during the last 20 or so years Beit Hashita has been experiencing not only a financial crisis but also many social changes which have taken their toll. Recently with the aid of the younger generation who have chosen to make Beit Hashita their home in addition to the absorption of many new families, we are experiencing an impressive growth in numbers. This change has once again put our kibbutz in first place in respect to number of children and youth throughout the area. The "Beit Tarbut" designed during the 1950's by our deceased member and renowned architect Shmuel Bekales needs to be restored and once again obtain its status as a sport and social center for our kibbutz children and the community as a whole. We have chosen to focus our energies on restoring our "Beit Tarbut" from the vantage point of being able to provide our youth with an enclosed sports hall. Anyone who visits the kibbutz is witness to the many youth and adults who make daily use of the open courts and fields for their sport and leisure activities. Despite its grave appearance, many architects recognize the hall's architectural importance which deserves and requires restoration and care. They support the quest to transform it into a functioning sports hall. We recognize that this restoration and transformation from the halls present state to a functioning sports center requires a major financial investment. The building, walls, roofing and flooring require restoration at an estimated cost of several hundred thousand shekels. Due to the fact that we are aware of the financial hardship which our community is experiencing we have chosen to approach anyone in Israel and abroad who Beit Hashita and its future are dear to them and ask for assistance. We humbly ask if you would be willing to donate and help us once again restore this community's very important sports center.
