Makkom (‘A Place’ in Hebrew) is a non-profit organization with the aim of advancing youngsters aged 18-24 whose families cannot or will not provide them with social, emotional and financial support. Most of these youngsters grew up in foster homes and residential care centers. Once they reach the age of 18, they are considered by the state to be adults and receive no statutory support.
Makkom's mission is to ensure that every young adult in Israel who has no family support will receive support from the government for a sufficiently long period that will enable him be integrated into Israeli society. We do so by providing services to that young adult (Subsidized housing, community activities, training and support ) as well as by promoting government policy change.
