GREEN COURSE

Green Course is the largest activist environmental volunteer organization in Israel. Our goal is to promote a just and sustainable environmental-social policy and to influence decision-makers to act for environmental justice in Israel. Our mission is to inspire the public to take an active role, generating bottom-up pressure through community organizing and public civic involvement, mobilizing public support to deal with the most pressing environmental needs in our reality. We believe that change is possible through mass mobilization and participatory civic engagement. The beating heart of our organization is our leadership programs, transforming participants into influential environmental leaders in the present and in the future. Over the past 25 years, Green Course has nurtured dozens of leaders through our leadership program, sharing our expertise and training community organizers to lead strong and sustainable environmental campaigns through advocacy, public mobilization and media relations. Our alumni take up key leadership positions as Members of the Knesset (parliament), heads of environmental and social organizations, and as leaders in the public, education, and business sectors. Green Course leads campaigns for socio-environmental policy change on the most pressing issues nationwide, from campus and community chapters across the country. Campaigns are led by us activists, hundreds of volunteers, students, young and old, who believe in participatory civic involvement, in taking personal responsibility for our society and environment, and in our power to change the reality. Every year, over 300 activists and volunteers alongside thousands of citizens take part in campaigns addressing the most burning socio-environmental issues in Israel. Our core values are leadership, democracy, transparency, and empowerment of communities. Green Course is a non–profit, non-governmental organization supported by national and international foundations, and from the public. We do not have party political affiliations, but rather focus on what is best environmentally and socially for Israel.
