Advocating for a democratic, just, and inclusive Jewish State

Gender segregation in public spaces? Religious coercion? Forcing extremist and anti-liberal content in schools? Incitement against members of the LGBTQ community? Canceling the recognition of Reform conversion? A passage of empowerment that will undermine the democratic system? In recent days the reality in Israel is getting worse. The emerging government poses a real threat to the values of equality and freedom that are important to all of us. In the face of the voices of extremism and racism, it is no longer possible to remain indifferent – we must stand up with and for a Judaism that welcomes everyone. We have our work cut out for us – and there’s no time to despair! We have no other homeland. Chanukah is just around the corner. A holiday that signifies how our lights shine brighter together. The Israel Reform Movement, and its legal department – the Israel Religious Action Center – have been working for decades towards an egalitarian and just Israeli society: - Our Judaism offers equal opportunities to men and women to share in the traditions and practices without partitions - Our advocacy strives to promote and maintain the rights of women, Arabs, minority populations, and members of the LGBTQ community. - Our programs strive to secure legal status for converts, new immigrants, women victims of violence. - We create new frameworks for allowing young people with disabilities to live fully inclusive and active lives in Reform communities. - We lead empowerment circles for women struggling with cultural, economic, social, and other differentials. - We make a meaningful and valuable Judaism accessible to children, youth and young people. - Our 54 congregations across Israel welcome individuals of all ages to an open and meaningful Judaism And all based on the idea that we were all created in the image of God, equally.
