We are a group of some 60 families of the Dagan hill, a new neighborhood in Efrat, Israel. The community is expected to grow to 100 families in the coming years, due to planned construction. The community has dozens of educators and health professionals, as well as hi-tech workers and lawyers. The kids ages generally range from 0-12. We have managed to create a flourishing kehila, with shiurim, tefillot for children (attended by 100+ kids), kiddushim, a parsha show, weekday activities and more. We are a community that believes in Avodat Hashem out of simplicity and love, and we put a huge focus on instilling torah values in our children, and welcoming everyone into our shul. Dagan Hill is on the north side of Efrat, just across of the Solomon Pools and City of Bethlehem suburbs. It was first populated in 1999 by the “Siach” Yeshiva, headed by Rav Shagar Zt”l. After many years of desolation, it has been developed and since 2016 grew to a size of some 300 families, with continued growth expected. We have chosen to build our home here because we believe in the future of Israel, Gush Etzion and Efrat. This is why we have called our community “Hazorim B’Rina”, we plant our seeds in this land with joy. Despite having a flourishing community, as of now, we have no permanent structure for a synagogue, and are leasing a local kindergarten on weekends. Even pre-Covid, we were accustomed to outdoor prayer. For the future of our community, we must look forward and build NOW. We have signed a contract on a 5500sqft land from the regional council and have started our local fund-raising efforts. The main prayer hall is expected to have 260 seats. The architect is Yehuda Levi, which has a proven track record of building beautiful synagogues. Each member of the shul is committed to donate a minimum of 5000$, but we are still in need of your generosity. We are planning a 2-story building with a shul, bet midrash, and community hall. The cost estimate for the entire project is roughly 1 million dollars.
