A Home For Haredi Lone Soldiers

OSEY CHAIL takes care of young men and women from ultra-Orthodox backgrounds, regardless of their current religious status, who have experienced a family and personal crisis due to their decision to enlist in the IDF. We help them through their military service, give them a home and an "adoptive family", and make sure all their physical, mental, and emotional needs are met. We also assist them in the equally challenging period after military service, in preparation for academic study and gainful employment. Just like a family! A Taste of Our Projects Everyone needs a home! We have 20 apartments throughout Israel that are home to almost 70 young men and women from ultra-Orthodox backgrounds. These apartments are available before, during, or soon after their military service in the IDF. We make sure the refrigerator is always full, the bills are paid, and that the tenants have all their needs met, including sheets, towels, pillows, blankets. We even provide a budget for purchasing clothing or any other need. Adoptive Families We know that the thing our young men and women most long for is a sense of warmth that only a family can give. Therefore, each apartment has a local adoptive family that invites them for Shabbat meals, celebrates their birthdays, visits them on family days in the army, and uplifts their spirit. OSEY CHAIL and the adoptive families offer emotional support day and night, giving the soldiers a true sense of family, someone to turn to in times of crisis and joy. Psychological Support Those lone soldiers from ultra-Orthodox backgrounds that have gone through the trauma of being expelled from their family homes and communities benefit from therapy. We have three psychologists who provide these soldiers with the professional support that they require. Preparing for the Post-Army World Many ultra-Orthodox youth have never studied English or STEM. They generally are not ready for the academic studies that are necessary for many professions. We offer our soldiers preparatory programs for academia to bridge the educational gaps, making sure they are well prepared for life after the army. TO SUPPORT AND HELP THEM – WE NEED YOU!
