Summer project

The summer of 2024 puts up many challenges. Challenges arising from Oct. 7th War and it's affect upon the educational frameworks across Israel and namely in the South, challenges of the cost of living and political instability – all of these are well observed on the children of Israel. The summer holiday – a prolonged period of time with no educational framework to tackle these challenges – are fertile grounds for phenomena of street wandering, violence, vandalism and substance abuse. This is why an educational encounter during the summer is a crucial national mission – for the children and youth to receive the emotional and social safety they need. Day Camp (Kayatzot) Project: the purpose of the project is to conduct dozens of educational day camps – in an affordable price – calling for equal education for all – regardless of religion race, social class and language. Some 300 11th graders will operate and guide these day camps. The project has been operating some 15 day camps across Israel for over 15 years with tens of thousands of participants. This year specifically and project will also conduct activities in the evacuated and home-returning communities of the Frontline. In order for the cost to be affordable – all of the activity is done voluntarily. The guides are graduates from HaShomer HaTzair's guiding course, youth themselves, who choose to contribute two weeks of their summer vacation to conduct these educational experiences to younger children. This activity is extremely meaningful for both the volunteering youth and the participating children. All accommodation and living expenses are paid by the project and not the participant children.
