Mental home care for Holocaust Survivors in Need

Lets not leave any survivor alone!

There are still 175,000 Holocaust survivors in Israel today. In spite of everything they went through, they have raised families and built up the country. Today they face the predicaments of old age and many of them struggle with old traumas. For 37 years Elah has supported them, eased their mental pain and strengthened their social conditions. Many survivors receive state subsidies for mental help, but we try to do more and provide mental care at home to over 100 survivors who are not eligible for state funding.
Holocaust survivors have witnessed the worst, have overcome immense hardships and defeated death but have nevertheless succeeded to re-build their lives. We often applaud their strength, but tend to forget that the horrors they have faced during and after WWII have left a deep mark within them. As survivors grow older, they face new difficulties such as the death of loved ones, worsening health conditions, loss of independence, loneliness, and the breakdown of coping mechanisms. As a result old traumas often reappear.
Elah provides therapy visits at home to ease the minds of these survivors. We have made it our policy to provide care to each and every one of them, whether or not therapy costs are covered by the state or any other source.
Your donations will enable us to meet the growing demand, and provide mental support to every Holocaust survivor in need during the last, difficult stage of their lives.
