Turning the Tables

'Turning the Tables’ provides women sex trade survivors with vocational and entrepreneurship training, economic empowerment and livelihood opportunities. The organization is active in Tel Aviv from 2011 and in Haifa from 2015, and caters to 500 of women and transgender women each year. All programs are designed to strengthen self-worth and self-belief of each participant so she can integrate into normative society as an equal, free and creative individual woman. By working with Social Security and decision makers in governmental offices, 'Turning the Tables' aims to change policies and regulations so it would advance women on the continuum of prostitution. In the public scene ‘Turning the Tables’ promotes the acceptance of women who were trapped in the sex trade as worthy of treatment, by showing their abilities and talents, challenges and strengths. In 2016 the organization's vocational rehabilitation and economic management program was embraced by the Social Security office as the first vocational rehabilitation program designated for women in prostitution. Our goals are: 1. To achieve long term stable changes in the lives of sex trade survivors. 2. To create a widespread social change in perception of prostitution and prostitutes. 3. To actively contribute to policy changes and laws concerning prostitution.
