Non-Profit Info 160,000 couples in Israel struggle with the difficulty of conceiving. For various reasons, a lot of women need to undergo fertility treatments. In addition to the unpleasant physical procedures they have to endure, most of them experience emotional difficulties that include feelings of guilt, shame, loneliness, lack of control over their own body, and more. “Leiot Em” (Becoming a mother) is a three-year-old association that aims to give women who undergo fertility treatments support and escort, first and one of a kind in Israel, throughout the complex journey to become a mother and to establish a family. The main activity within the association is the “Shutafot Laderech” (A Journey Partners) program, where women who have undergone fertility treatments and have been trained by professionals, accompany and support women in fertility processes. They are attentive to the dilemmas that arise within the journey to motherhood and to the personal and family complexities involved in this process. By creating a safe, inclusive, and empathetic space, the partnership allows women to unload the emotional burden. It also makes availability to deal with the medical process, and ultimately increases the chances of giving birth. In the last six months, 50 women approached the association wanting to receive support, 7 women were informed they were pregnant, 3 women gave birth, 30 new volunteers have been recruited, 2 professionals have joined the professional team, And counting! The association offers emotional support to women from a variety of social backgrounds, cultures, and family positions. Assistance is offered for free in order to reduce social gaps and to provide help to every woman, regardless of race, sex, religion or gender, and volunteers are not involved in medical procedures. Today the association cooperates with the hospital “Bnei Tzion” (Sons of Zion) in Haifa, and it aims to establish cooperation with additional hospitals in Israel in order to assist all women on the complex journey to motherhood. Project Info We need your help to continue helping women who undergo fertility treatments. In this way, we can continue to support them while navigating the emotional complexities involved in the difficult process they and their families are experiencing. Your generous donation will help us to continue managing the association and supervising the different teams, to provide professional tools for the volunteers, to open additional training programs and to be there for more women, and to establish a “hot line” that will serve women who need our escort. Thanks to you, more and more women will stop feeling lonely. They will see there’s someone who knows exactly what they are going through, someone neutral that they can open up to without worrying. With your support we’ll be able to provide them with a safe place, containment, support, and empathy, so they can create a life. Everything they long for is a child. Let's help them fulfill their dream and create a family. Thank you!
