Leading Ethiopian youth to excellence

Shoham is Israel's most intense - and most extensive - program for Ethiopian youth. The Ethiopian community in Israel is at a severe disadvantage. Due to language and cultural gaps in the older generation, more than 50% of the youth are struggling in school and falling through the cracks. Parents simply cannot help their children with Hebrew, or navigate the Israeli educational system. By 7th grade a significant downward spiral toward failure begins. Without intense assistance and advocacy, they fall significantly behind, matriculating to university at half the general rate. Because of your support, Shoham has continued to operate and grow, and, in fact, are expanding services and programming to help Ethiopian boys as well. Our graduates serve in some of the most elite army units, teach medics in the army, volunteer with disabled kids, in ambulance corps, excel in school and contribute to their families and Israeli society. YOU gave them the tools to succeed and together, we are doing it again. Support Shoham as we provide a 3 hours-a-day, 4 days-a-week program and help lead our students to extraordinary places.
