Pesach 2023 with Keren Yotzei South Africa

Since 2006, KYSA has helped hundreds of South African families make Yom Tov. 34 times! Now food prices have increased to levels unimaginable in 2006. Our duty-as friends-is to increase our help to "levels unimaginable in 2006". Or at least close to that. It is the week before Yom Tov and the Levy* children look on as their neighbours leave their homes to go shopping for food and new clothes for Yom Tov. The little Levy girls smile weakly and, with their toes, feel out the holes in their shoes as their playmates announce that they are going to renew their wardrobe for the new season. Meanwhile, next door, the 7-year-old Levy boy watches silently as his closest friend displays his new bike. Behind the closed kitchen door, Mrs Levy turns to her husband and asks him what he plans to do. He looks up, "I hope KYSA realises how difficult things have been for us this year.” Similar scenes play out in South African expat homes every Yom Tov.
