Orr Shalom- A family that shines light

For the first time in 43 years Orr Shalom is launching its first-ever crowdfunding campaign. Our challenge is to give every girl and boy in need a "family that shines light". This campaign is being launched for and dedicated to our children and young adults and for that we need you! How? You are invited to lend a hand by sharing the campaign and donating, and in this way you will be helping us provide more safe homes for children in need. We are happy to tell you more about our work: Orr Shalom for Children and Youth at Risk is a non-profit organization engaged for over 40 years in the care of children, youth and young adults at risk in Israel who were removed from their homes by the welfare authorities due to parental dysfunction, abuse and severe neglect. Today, Orr Shalom cares for over 1,400 babies, toddlers, children, youth and young adults from birth to age 27 in a variety of small, family and home-based settings. We provide a personalized response for every child, considering the child’s needs and preparing him or her for family and community life as an adult. Orr Shalom is engaged in developing diverse services and building collaborations for the benefit of these populations. What do we do? • Family Group Homes in the Community: Approximately 220 children and youth living in 20 family-style group homes integrated in communities throughout Israel • Foster Central Program: 800 children live in 600 foster families recruited, trained, and supervised by Orr Shalom • Emergency Foster Homes: 25 babies and toddlers are cared for in five Emergency Foster Homes • Post-Hospitalization Homes: Girls on the edge of the spectrum are cared in family-like group homes characterized by intimacy and high visibility • Parent-Child Center: 100 children and their families receive treatment in the Parent-Child Center and in prevention programs in the community. • Graduate Program: Close to 400 graduates without family support, ages 18-27, are accompanied by Orr Shalom and receive a holistic response adapted to the needs of young adult graduates of out-of-home care on their way to optimal independence We are happy to answer any questions and provide additional information.
