We seek to strengthen initiatives by the citizens of Lod to renew their city and transform it into a model for bridging the gaps between the socioeconomic periphery and the prosperous urban cities of the startup nation. The Lod Foundation is a non-profit association, established in 2008, to promote the best interests of Lod and its citizens. It is their foundation. They are represented on its Executive Committee and they take responsibility for generating the change – to change their future. We engage sources of support from Israel and abroad to leverage actions and citizen-driven initiatives to renew Lod and transform it into a dynamic, vibrant, developing place to live. You are invited to visit, meet the citizens, and join our mission! Context Lod is a colorful mosaic, home to Jews from diverse ethnic backgrounds, ultra-Orthodox and modern Orthodox Jews, Bedouin, Muslim and Christian Arabs, Ethiopian and Russian immigrants, and students seeking affordable housing and a role in developing Lod’s tremendous untapped potential. The city is geographically adjacent to Tel Aviv in central Israel, but is stuck, far behind, in the socioeconomic periphery. With a population that is a microcosm of Israeli society, coexistence is the only option. Integration among Arabs and Jews, between east and west – with respect for differing pasts – can empower citizens to achieve a better, shared future. Vision We envision Lod as a city where cultural diversity converges into a shared civil society. Enriched and empowered, citizens will drive Lod to its highest limits. Mission We seek to strengthen initiatives by the citizens of Lod to renew their city and transform it into a model for bridging the gaps between the socioeconomic periphery and the prosperous urban cities of the startup nation.
