“Hameshet - Ha’otot” shooting club in Kibbutz Ma’abarot, was founded by Efraim (Efra) Porat in 1950 and is based on five principles - fairness, friendship, fortitude, ambitiousness and honour.
Since 2001 the club has open a non- profit organisation commemorating it’s original founder in the name “Ha’poel ‘Efra’ Ma’abarot”.
The club is committed to give support and opportunities to shooters of all ages and has a proven track record of developing talented people into world class athletes.
The sport of Olympic shooting is a traditional sport, dating back to the very first modern Olympic movement in 1896. There are many shooting disciplines. In our club, we train and compete in 0.22 rifle, 0.22 pistol, air rifle, air pistol and rapid fire pistol.
The sport of shooting is an interesting one, as it both reflects the personality of the shooter and creates the possibility for personal growth.
As an individualistic sport, it attracts those who crave the metal challenges that the sport presents; and also those who enjoy being part of a club.
From the get-go the budding athlete learns personal responsibility when at the range. Discipline is key to the safety of all the participants.
Shooting builds mental and physical stamina. With practice, there is improvement in focus and concentration, hand-eye coordination; logical thinking and problem solving.
Courage and confidence are increased, and the athlete learns to cope with his success and failures.
All shooters in our club learn how to realize the goals they have every year, every practice and every shot.
Support us as we support those on their individual and collective journeys; those who will be the future Olympians of Israel.
