Life in northern Israel is impacted by a combination of unique circumstances, including geographic remoteness, a multitude of small localities and the multi-cultural social fabric and has suffered from years of neglect and underdevelopment. Northern Goals (established by the Rashi Foundation in 2004), with headquarters in Carmiel, aims to create a better future for people living in the region where every person has an equal opportunity to fulfil themselves. Working strategically and building partnerships with government, local authorities and other philanthropic organizations, our objective is to remove barriers to individual accomplishment, provide a holistic response to closing educational and social gaps, as well as promoting inclusion and inhibiting isolation. Northern Goals provides a coordinated collection of programs and services whose mission is to promote optimal development and to maximize the potential of families and children across northern Israel. We specialize in five main areas of activity: early childhood – focusing on identifying and providing therapeutic intervention for young children with developmental delays; teenage girls and young women in distress – including advancing further education and quality employment opportunities; responding to children and youth who have been sexually abused; families living in poverty; and assisting people with blindness or visual impairment to be more independent and lead productive and fulfilling lives.
Northern Goals engages over 700 employees who are a cadre of well-recognized and experienced professionals from all sectors of Israeli society (some 50% are non-Jews). Dedicated staff, with expertise in relevant fields and familiarity with and acceptance by the community, work together to strengthen weaker populations living in 100 localities in northern Israel. In all, currently reaching over 53,000 people, promoting equality, closing social gaps and helping to give them a better future.
