The Society for the Protection of Nature in Israel (SPNI) is Israel's leading environmental non-profit, founded in 1953. With a lasting legacy of environmental stewardship, SPNI champions Israel's unique nature and biodiversity through advocacy, education, and activism. Our methods and results have earned us the respect of both decision makers and all sectors of the Israeli public. Today, SPNI's presence is felt in every corner of Israel, with 11 field schools, 14 conservation sites, 5 birding centers, and 11,000 kilometers of hiking trails across the country, including the iconic Israel National Trail. The pressures facing Israel’s natural environment are key strategic challenges that will affect our economy, security, and quality of life. If not dealt with, we risk reaching a crisis point before the State of Israel's 100th birthday in 1948. These challenges demand multidisciplinary strategies and a commitment to collaboration and creative problem-solving.
