OneDay Social Volunteering

One Day Tikkun Olam (R.A) was founded in 2016 with the goal of promoting volunteerism and civic involvement in Israeli society in general, and among young adults in specific.Contrary to popular belief, the Israel is considered as one of the western countries with the lowest volunteer rates.The nonprofit aims to change the traditional volunteer model in Israel with an innovative volunteer model that is more suited to the lifestyle of the younger generations, and with that – to increase the volunteer rates in Israe. We aim to do it while building a community that brings young adults from diverse backgrounds to work together on different volunteer projects.We believe that community service projects that bring together young people from various sectors, tribes and communities will also make a change in our perception of the ‘other’ and will help to create a more collaborative, inclusive and shared society. This is of course in addition to the results of the community service projects that improve the lives of then of thousands of people.The flagship program, OneDay Social Volunteering, created a revolutionary volunteer model that transforms young adults, who have never taken part in volunteer work, to social leaders and active citizens who bring a wide social change to their communities in many different fields; Elderly and Holocaust Survivors, people with special needs, home renovations of families in need , creating special educational courtyards in the social periphery and in institutions for children with special needs, animals rights, nature and the environment, fight against poverty and more.To date, this program has launched over 650 different and varied volunteer and social projects in 72 local authorities throughout Israel, with approximately 18,000 participants.Video: Parts of the documentary file "Million Reasons to volunteer"/ Miri NevoChannel 10August 2018
