"Nitzotzot" is an organization that operates a diverse and extensive volunteer infrastructure, all over the country. We employ 2,500 volunteers in 200 schools in 80 communities all over the country. This is a set of volunteers that includes Israeli men and women from various backgrounds who teach classes in the schools on subjects that are close to what they do in their daily lives
Since last Shabbat, Israel has been under a barbaric and murderous attack. Hundreds of residents of the surrounding settlements were murdered in cold blood, thousands were injured and over a hundred were kidnapped, including children, the elderly, and the disabled. This is the most severe attack that Israel has known..
As of the time of writing these lines, 40 centers are being established across the country to accommodate over 9,000 children and teenagers who survived the massacre in the Gaza Strip. Upon learning the extent of the horror and the realization that the State of Israel was facing a protracted war, we immediately began developing and adapting educational content that could be used by our many volunteers in assisting the precious children and youth.
We intend to activate our extensive volunteer system for the benefit of the students in the reception centers. This is a complex operation that includes placing over 2,500 volunteers in 40 centers to volunteer with children and teenagers who have experienced deep trauma. Thorough training will be required for the volunteers, both at the level of pedagogical content and at the level of emotional coping. In the first stage, we estimate that the program will be required for a few months.
The project will benefit thousands of children and teenagers who survived the massacre in the surrounding settlements. We believe that the volunteers – about 2,500 in number – will also benefit from the project, in their ability to help, even a little, these precious children.
