Dear friends,A request for help building "Revavot Efraim" synagogueWe are the residents of greater Gilo in the holy city of Yerushalayim. We are part of the "Revavot efraim" synagogue and spiritual center, unfortunately still residing in a bomb shelter in "Haroeh" school in Gilo for the last 27 years. Thank God this bomb shelter and synagogue is brimming with spiritual life and spreading it throughout the whole area as well. We have regular scheduled prayers throughout the week, three times a day including Shabbat and festivals. But especially on the high holidays, the synagogue is completely packed and people can be found standing outside in the stairwell listening to the sound of prayers coming from the depths of the bomb shelter! In addition there are also daily classes for all ages in Torah, Talmud, Halacha, and Musar. The people come here after a long day of work to recharge their souls with spirituality allowing them to withstand the pressures of day to day life. Furthermore, on Shabbat there is activity all day long including: Shabbat prayers followed by Tehilim for girls, then Mincha followed by Tehilim and Torah for boys. After this we have a Torah class for adults, another minyan for Mincha, another Torah class (followed by Third meal), another Torah class before Maariv and then a class in Zohar.Unfortunately all this takes place as we have mentioned, in a bomb shelter. No windows or proper ventilation and electrical problems that often leave us in complete darkness while we enjoy the pleasure of the holy Shabbat. As we've said there is a lack of space and no opportunity to expand in order to enable more people from the area to participate and join our synagogue.We therefore beseech you as members of a synagogue in the holy city of Yerushalaim, to help us build a "Mikdash Me'at" in a respectable manner and to allow us to meet the needs of the congregation in the present and in the future. We ask again, please! Do not ignore our pleas and years of distress.
