In the year 2,000 a roadside charge was thrown on a school bus full of children on the way to school in the settlement Atzmona. In this horrific terror attack, two teachers were killed and dozens of children were wounded. On the spot, the Israeli government decided to establish an independent school in Kfar Darom.Upon the Disengagement from Gush Katif, the school relocated to Ashkelon, and from there, together with the community, to Shavei Darom. The school that opened its doors with less than 50 children in Kfar Darom, now caters to students from the entire area, with more than 200 students currently enrolled, and is growing each year. The school is a Religious Zionist state school and provides excellent education in both Judaic and general studies. The school is under the supervision of the Ministry of Education, and receives state funding.Today the school is housed in mobile homes, while the permanent building is under construction.
