"Mithabrim LaNeshama" is the only food bank that brings 17 tons of food to the impoverished and needy every single week with the help of altruistic, dedicated, selfless and passionate volunteers. The ones who can't come to pick up get delivered.
Whenever possible we supplement the bag of produce and meat that we distribute with a NIS1,000 (Apprx. $300) per family (some of which are blessed with numerous children) a Supermarket voucher to help celebrate a happier Holiday or Shabbat.
What will it take for you to donate? Every dollar goes into paying for the collection and distribution of food.
Come visit us in Karmiel, Northern Israel, it is a sight for sore eyes, every square inch is used for storage of food. There is no fancy office, no chair, not even a coffee will await you only a big hug and warm welcome that will surely move you.
We are a recognized Not for Profit Foundation in Israel and in the US details of which we will happily share upon request.
Mr. Emil Ghattan founder of The Kattan Foundation is our funding philanthropic underwriter and Rabbi Shimon Pinto is the driven Director of the project. The only salaries are paid to the devoted truck drivers and Meirav who tirelessly collects food for distribution.
The activities of the charity MITHABRIM LANESHAMA - Connecting to the Soul
The families we serve are in very difficult socio-economic distress. They close
their house in shame to hide their poverty. Their refrigerator is empty and their
children go to sleep with a rumbling stomach. It may sound unbelievable but
the data from official sources show that there are thousand of families in Israel
who do not have the money for Materna and potatoes.
Our foundation examines the situation and helps to stabilize it. We work to
find suitable employment for the parents, deliver food baskets and help before
the holidays. Dozens of families are cared for every month, everything possible
is done to get the needy out of poverty and take care of the families until they can
stand on their own two feet!
The project is organized to divide food bags into three different sizes
depending on the economic situation of the families. The support includes the
distribution of schoolbags and stationery to students in preparation for the
start of the school year, as well as the distribution of blankets, coats and
ovens at the beginning of winter.

Families in financial distress all over the country.

welfare services, and other sources of information.
