Founded in 1983, Yad Rachel is an Israeli non-profit organization, based in Jerusalem, which runs a leading network of Educational Therapy Centers and programs for children at-risk and their families around Israel. Our main goal is to provide children and families from socio-economically disadvantaged neighborhoods with the tools they need to overcome their educational, emotional, and social difficulties. More than 300,000 Israeli children are at-risk and nearly one million are living below the poverty line. These children are often subject to violence and neglect and lack opportunities to grow and develop socially, emotionally and cognitively. We believe that each child has the right to a safe and happy childhood filled with love and support. Yad Rachel Educational Therapy Centers are located throughout Israel and provide a safe, secure, and enriching space, where each year, around 2,500 children and their families participate in professionally tailored individual educational and therapeutic psychological treatments. In addition, our Parent-Child Centers offer psychological counseling and creative therapy for individuals, parent-child pairs, families and groups to foster the family relationship and allow for a positive impact on the child’s development. As part of our Educational Therapy Centers and in partnership with local schools and the Ministry of Education, we also operate two literacy programs: one for preschool children; and one to improve the literacy skills of school age children. At Yad Rachel we work with our children on a personal level, treating each child and family with respect and concern for their wellbeing. Through psychological counseling, after school programs, and various weekly events, we strongly encourage our children's personal growth as creative, educated, confident individuals. Our partners include family foundations, corporations, and Israeli government ministries. Together, we are able to provide our children and families with the highest quality service and individual attention to create both personal and large-scale systemic change. Our goals include: • To form a significant relationship with disadvantaged children at risk from a place of compassion and concern for their future. • To treat children at risk within the community and prevent unnecessary out of home placements. • To create a leading, innovative and holistic educational and therapeutic approach for the treatment of children at risk - as well as for their families. • To provide, through efforts of a multi-disciplinary team, a safe, secure and enriching place in which children can develop self-confidence and gain faith in their abilities to create a brighter future for themselves.
