Sansana Synagogue

The community of Sansana is composed of families who came together with common goals: community, friendship, education and social activism. The families lead their life according to the Torah and are connected to principles of religious Zionism and Israeli pioneering. The community has set a goal of maintaining a way of life that radiates and affects surrounding communities as well. The community aims to connect different and diverse populations in the area, and to establish itself as a major leader involved in the processes that lay before us - the residents of the south. The community in Sansana is one that feels like a family, warm and cohesive. The members work tirelessly for its development with the help of community volunteers, who work in a variety of different ways including – integration of new families, education, social events and more. The development and growth of the yishuv is done through cooperation, commitment and personal responsibility. In its 24 years, the yishuv realized many accomplishments. It has become one of the flagship yishuvim of the renewed Zionism in the Negev. Our goal is to develop a community with a pastoral character, of about 350 families, while maintaining its character and its unique beauty Sansana has one central synagogue, which serves as the beating heart of the community. In the synagogue all different traditions come together, with piyyutim, Chasidic songs, songs from previous generations, as well as new. It is the kind of davening that brings all the people in the community to daven as one being. Since Sansana was founded, the synagogue has been a temporary building at the edge of the Yeshuv. Thank G-d, with the growth of the Yeshuv, it is now too small to hold all the members of the community. Today, 24 years later, we are setting out to build a permanent home for our synagogue. The spiritual dwelling will be located in the center of the Yeshuv, at the highest point, and serve as a center for the entire community.
