For the past 30 years, the Association ‘Marpe LeNefesh’ has been engaged in the rehabilitation of people dealing with mental illness as well as other disabilities. The association operates 21 housing rehabilitation frameworks nationwide for the Ministry of Health and Welfare, including hostels, supportive communities and sheltered housing - individual accompaniment of people in their homes. This is in order to help them improve their mental and physical functioning and promote the quality of their lives while being personally involved and taking responsibility. Marpe LeNefesh also puts an emphasis on their full integration into the community while culturally adapting according to each person's background and needs.
For example, several frameworks in Jerusalem and Bnei Brak are intended for the ultra-Orthodox population.
The association provides rehabilitation for approximately 1500 people suffering from a mental illness, such as: schizophrenia, mania, depression, acute depression and anxiety, as well as people dealing with comorbidity: (a mental illness accompanied by another physical illness such as oncology, dialysis, etc.), Marpe LeNefesh offers treatment for people with disabilities such as cognitive impairment.
Marpe LeNefesh has recently expanded the association’s services to include the treatment of victims of sexual assault, and rehabilitation employment for those suffering from additional disabilities such as physical, sensory, cognitive, mental, and autism.
The association employs around 430 staff members including therapists, social workers, psychiatrists, nurses, instructors, nurses, administrative and operational staff in addition to volunteers.
