The Society for Society and Culture, Documentation and Research was established by the late Ovadia Ben Shalom over fifty years ago. The center of the association is in Netanya and it has branches and activities all over the country. Today, the association is headed by Dr. Yigal Ben Shalom, who in the past served in senior positions in the public service in the State of Israel.
The association is engaged in several areas of activity: cultural and heritage activities in the field of Yemenite Jewish heritage and its integration into the mosaic of Israeli culture in Israel. This is through research, conferences, cultural events, publishing books and magazines, encouraging and supporting young artists and musical ensembles creating new work based on tradition, and more.
The association operates in the field of welfare and provides assistance to families in need, by collecting donations and collaborating with the local municipalities.
The association was mobilized to help those evacuated from their homes following the Iron Swords War. This is by holding cultural activities for families, and providing play sets for children.
