Torah MiTzion was founded in 1996 to establish a global network of community-based Torah Learning Centers (Batei Midrash). The Centers invite and enable every Jew around the world, whatever their denomination or current knowledge level, to learn and actively interact with their fellow Jews and to engage with their own Jewish heritage. The Torah Learning Centers are staffed by high-impact, dynamic, education emissaries (shlichim), men and women, singles and families. Their duties in the communities include one-on-one (chavruta) learning, formal and informal education, implementing community events and hosting smaller, more personalized activities (e.g Shabbat dinners) for individuals and families in the community. Torah MiTzion established the 'Lev Yehudi' project in 2002 for Israelis with the goal of operating a warm Jewish home for Israeli backpackers in India (in Dharamshala and Hampi). A family of shlichim hosts a variety of activities around Jewish thought and values, through which the travelers get to know and experience their own connection to Judaism and Zionism. Torah MiTzion founded ‘Lilmod.org’, an online and interactive Learning Center (Beit Midrash) in 4 languages - Russian, French, German and Spanish, giving global access to Torah study. More than 2,500 students take part in our weekly courses, learning Jewish studies and Hebrew.
