Moshav Alloney Habashan is the most eastern Jewish village in Israel. Founded in 1981, it is located in the Northern Golan Heights - bordering Syria. The Moshav is home to 90 families, a total of 470 residents of all ages. The community is modern orthodox and work in various professions- from local agriculture including our orchards and dairy farm to teaching, tourism, Hi-tech and more. Alloney HaBashan is the home of many artists and scholars as well, including a potter, musicians, wine makers ,scientists archaeologists etc.
The Moshav was initiated as part of a pioneer movement encouraging the resettlement of the Golan, remembering that in bible times onwards there were important flourishing jewish villages and communities in the Golan.
Nowadays, just as in ancient times, the Synagogue serves as the heart of the community and its Jewish life. It is a place for prayer for the young and the old, on weekdays and on Shabbat and holidays. The shul serves not just the local community and its guests, but also soldiers patrolling the border, hikers who receive hospitality and rest here, and Bar Mitzvah ceremonies from the neighboring secular Kibbutzim.
The florishing community has outgrown the old synagogue- and a new building is being built. In honor of the connection to our past, the plan of the new building resembles that of ancient synagoges excavated in the Golan- such as Gamla, ancient Qazrin and more. Furthermore, the new synagogue will commerate the memory of two young men from the Moshav- Gavriel Hoter who was murdered by terrorists while protecting his fellow students at the Yeshiva in Otniel, and Ssgt. Shachar Shalev - who was killed in action during the last war in Gaza
The Alloney HaBashan Synagogue needs your donations to complete the project. Our community invites you to take part in this Zionistic project.
