Amichai, a nonprofit Israeli association for the welfare of people with developmental disabilities, established in 1994 to create a supportive environment in which children with developmental disabilities could grow and thrive, based on principles of full inclusion in normative society, and maximum independence. At Amichai We envisage a society that provides high-quality, accessible and integrative services to all people with special needs throughout their lifetime, regardless of age or level of disability; enabling each individual to progress toward independence, equality & self- fulfillment. We regard every person as a whole, an entire world unto himself, with unique qualities and abilities, desires and needs. We believe that people with developmental disabilities of all ages deserve an opportunity to live their lives fully, with dignity & quality of life, in a normative environment. We assert that the duty of our society is to ensure this birthright of its special sons and daughters, to be members of the community in which they reside, throughout their lifetime. Our focal mission is to respond to the authentic, urgent call of people with special needs and their families, and find ways to ease their inevitable hardships. Amichai address the needs of the entire life cycle of its target population, from early childhood through the school years to adolescence, and on to adulthood, maturity and old age. Our services include: • Daycare centers for special education children in central Israel, including the ethnic minority sector • An active, highly popular weekend respite program; summer and holiday camps • Programs for children with autism • Housing within the community for young men and women with severe mental disabilities • A portfolio of occupational centers for young people, adults and senior citizens at various levels of developmental and physical capabilities In nearly 24 years of activity, Amichai has served more than 3,000 children, adolescent and adults and their families, affecting the lives of hundreds of volunteers, and influencing the social attitudes of thousands of young students. Why do we ask for your support? 85% of our annual $M3.5 budget, funded by governmental resources, covers only the basic needs our customers. We rely on fund raising activity to bridge the additional $M0.5 (15% of our budget). This support is critical to assure the high quality, inclusive and supportive programs, based on our vision and goals. Fund raising activity is done in Israel and abroad, alongside development of independent sources of income. How are we going to use the money? Your financial aid will support the following: • Paramedical services, to improve and maintain the physical capabilities of kids' youth and adults with special needs attending our programs. Among these services are physiotherapy, speech, behavioral, art, horticultural and sensory stimulation therapies. • Furnishing and refurbishing our inclusive housing facilities (24 residents in 4 houses) • Sumer camps activities for children with special needs. • Procurement of equipment for our adult occupational centers, in order to improve and upgrade their work workplace and enrich their activities. • Recreational activities for children with special needs. • Weekend Respite activities for children and youth with special needs. How can you help us? • Donate the amount of your desire. • Post a message, linked to our campaign page, in your social media and WhatsApp groups, inviting your friends, family members, colleagues and peers to donate and help us.
