Garin Ometz is a non-profit social organization. It was founded about 20 years ago in the city of Akko in order to strengthen the city and create significant change in its socioeconomic situation.
Our perception is that the weakest populations in Akko should be strengthened, thereby creating a strong, cohesive, and supportive local community. Our work is based on the values of volunteering and strengthening others.
We operate about 30 projects in the city, covering the fields of education, charity, society, and community. Our projects include the Neglected Families Project, the Chesed Center (distribution of food baskets), learning centers and youth clubs. In addition, due to the extensive and successful activity of Garin Akko, and the evidence of a positive impact on the youth in Akko and on the growth of the population in the Galilee, we have expanded our activity; we now run projects in young communities throughout the Galilee. In these projects, we accompany young adults at the crossroads of life in their decision making, particularly with regard to education, employment, community, demographic growth, leadership, etc.
As a non-profit organization, we specialize in community development and support.
We are in constant contact with the welfare department in the Akko municipality, and provide a comprehensive response to the various needs of the welfare population: Economic, psychological, career, family, community, etc.
We conduct community activities for all the city's residents, with the goal of creating unity and community among them. We emphasize that the value of volunteering is a very large part of the organization's operation and vision, and that a large part of the organization's activities are carried out by volunteers.
It is important to note that the organization's activities in the city and in the entire Galilee region provide an appropriate response for the needs of the residents of the area, which is not provided by any other body. In addition, Garin Ometz has received official recognition by the Ministry of Education as a provider of educational activities for settlement communities
