Hillel - Beyond Orthodoxy provides support, stability, and opportunity for young adults making the difficult transition from ultra-Orthodox communities into broader Israeli society.
Known as Yotzim B'Sheilah, they often lose their families, communities, financial support systems, and social networks when they choose their own path. They may face isolation, housing instability, financial hardship, and significant gaps in core education and employment skills. For some, the transition can also mean homelessness and the challenge of building an entirely new life from the ground up.
Hillel provides comprehensive support during the critical first three to five years of this transition, helping each participant build the practical skills, stability, and independence needed for long-term integration and success.
In 2025, Hillel staff and more than 1,600 volunteers will serve approximately 6,000 participants through a wide range of programs and services, including:

5 Hillel Community Centers Nationwide -More than 800 events annually, providing community, connection, programming, and a sense of belonging

13 Transitional Housing Units Nationwide - Shared housing, together with ongoing support, in Tel Aviv, Jerusalem, Haifa, Be'er Sheva, Kibbutz Hatzerim.

2 Ha-Bayit Shel Hillel Emergency Shelters - Residential shelters where participants can stay for up to six months while receiving comprehensive intake, counseling, risk-management, and referral services.

Comprehensive Psychosocial Services - More than 5,000 hours of individualized psychosocial support each year.

Academic Support Program - Assistance completing core curriculum requirements, scholarships, one-on-one tutoring, and ongoing academic guidance.

Workforce Integration - Career counseling and practical support to help participants enter the workforce, develop professional skills, and build sustainable careers.

Single-Parent Program - Comprehensive support tailored to the needs of single parents, including housing subsidies, respite retreats, free legal assistance, and additional services.

Support for Yotzim on Active and Reserve IDF Duty - Assistance accessing Lone Soldier status and benefits, free shared off-base housing, food vouchers, holiday support, and other essential resources.

Hillel is the only organization in Israel providing this comprehensive range of services specifically for Yotzim B'Sheilah.
For someone leaving the ultra-Orthodox community, a scholarship is much more than help paying tuition. It can transform their starting point, providing access to education, stability, opportunity, and the ability to build an independent future.
They may have left an entire world behind, but they have not left their future behind.

Your support makes that future possible.
