Rabbi Eliyahu Shear

A Teacher Wherever You Are

The greatest mitzvah we have is studying Torah. We are taught תלמוד תורה כנגד כולם “Talmud Torah keneged kulam,” the study of Torah is equivalent to all (Mishnah Peah 1:1). Through the Torah we gain the wisdom necessary to know what our responsibility is in this world, how to live our lives effectively as Jews, what the ways of Hashem are and how to draw close to both G-d and our fellow. In short, Torah is our guide along the path that leads us to life and blessings in this world and the world to come. Yet many of us don't know how to study Torah without a teacher to guide us. Pirkei Avot teaches us, “Make for yourself a teacher” (Pirkei Avot 1:6).  But what do you do if you live far from a Jewish community? What if you don't know any rabbis personally? Perhaps you lack Hebrew skills and simply don't know where to begin. Even if you already know how to learn, you may need a rabbi to guide you in a particular area of Halachah, teach you a specific skill such as Sofrut (writing of ritual documents such as Mezuzot and Tefillin), or help you begin exploring TaNaCh, Mishnah, Talmud, Mussar, Chassidut, Kabbalah or other areas of Torah. This is the gap Rabbi Eliyahu Shear has spent 35 years helping to fill! Rabbi Shear is an experienced Torah teacher who combines his deep knowledge and love of Torah with his expertise in computers and technology. Through online teaching and digital resources, he is able to reach Jews wherever they are in the world and wherever they may be on their journey of Torah learning. Our goal is to make this Torah learning accessible to more people—and to continue developing the technology, teaching, and resources needed to reach them. What Students Experience:Students often say that learning with Rabbi Shear becomes the highlight of their week. One young student says, “This Sofrut shiur is the best shiur of my week.” Another shares, “I looked forward to learning every Wednesday.” A long-time student says, “Rabbi Shear has an incredible ability to take complicated concepts and make them simple.” Another proudly says, “I passed my Vaad Mishmeret STaM exam thanks to Rabbi Shear.” And many simply say, “This program changed my life.” These aren’t just comments — they’re glimpses into what Torah learning can feel like when a teacher truly cares. For more video testimonials see https://www.youtube.com/watch?... Bringing Torah to Jews Around the World Rabbi Shear offers Torah teaching and content in a variety of formats, fulfilling the teaching “For the Torah will go out from Tzion, and the word of Hashem from Yerushalayim” (Isaiah 2:3 and Michah 4:2).  His YouTube channel now has more than 400 videos of varying lengths, covering many different areas of Torah. He also teaches online via Zoom to students of all ages around the world—from young to old and at all levels of learning. He brings a unique combination of patience, creativity, dedication, and wisdom to his teaching, using these qualities to ensure that his shiurim are engaging, fascinating, thought-provoking, and responsive to the needs of each student. Now we want to expand this work: We want to continue developing Rabbi Shear's YouTube channel, bring additional rabbis and Torah teachers into the project, and make it possible for more people to learn with qualified teachers. We also want to establish a way to subsidize learning for serious students who are dedicated to growth but need financial assistance. By offering a sliding scale of payment options for personal one-on-one tuition, and small group sessions, we can help ensure that financial circumstances do not prevent someone from accessing meaningful Torah learning. There is already a wealth of material waiting to be developed into books and other resources. We also offer opportunities to sponsor Torah videos and books, helping make this growing body of Torah content available to an even wider audience. You Can Be Part of It!* Join Rabbi Shear's growing community on YouTube, https://www.youtube.com/@rebel... * Create a group of friends who want to learn together. * Sponsor a Torah video or book. * Help sponsor a student who is serious about learning but needs assistance. * Help us obtain the software, equipment and manpower to improve and increase our library of content in various formats. This may include outsourcing tasks such as editing, book cover design, graphic design, advertising, technical work, and fundraising support such as donor outreach and cold calling. * Help us to add more teachers, we currently have 2-3 rabbis waiting to contribute to our YouTube channel. * Help us promote Rabbi Shear's Torah content so that more people can discover and benefit from it. This includes promoting the YouTube channel, books, and new resources and merchandise as they are developed. * Support the development of creative ways to inspire people to learn, grow, and come closer to Hashem, from books and journals to bookmarks, inspirational materials, and other products. * Sign up for our newsletter to be the first to hear of new updates and developments as they happen.  * Visit his website at www.lovingkindness.co Together, we can help bring Torah learning to Jews wherever they are!
