Women's Spirit

We are all involved in the terrible war in the south. These are very difficult and complicated days for all. Women’s Spirit operates nationwide. One of its three main branches is in the south – sits in Be'er Sheva and serves the Western Negev Gaza and in the northern communities. The branch offer a response to women survivors of abuse, who at this time are in more dire straits than ever. In these days of emergency, the professional staff of Women’s Spirit are working overtime to respond to hundreds of our participants, in full collaboration with other aid organizations, authorities, professionals and officials in the community. Our presence and support are more important than ever, especially in light of the unimaginable burden that falls on the shoulders of the municipalities. These municipalities, even on normal days, fail to provide a satisfactory response for women survivors of abuse. We work in complete synchronization with the business sector, local municipalities and any and all relevant professionals in the field - with the aim of creating a supportive environment for our participants. We operate a well-oiled model of volunteering within each community. Each women survivor of abuse has her own personalized “plan of action”, affording to their needs. Each trained professional volunteer is from their same community. Our model produces resilience, cohesion and comfort, these are the components that are needed today more than ever. Our Case Managers and dozens of trained professional volunteers in the south are busy maintaining continuous and supportive contact with their participants most of whom are single mothers, who are currently experiencing great emotional and material distress. At the same time, we are witnessing a sharp escalation in domestic violence against the background of national pressure and the severe trauma that we are all experiencing, accompanied by an increased need for help to more and more.
