Emergency Hotline for Birthing Women Affected by the War

In the few short days since our country was invaded and our loved ones forced into shelter, organizations and dedicated volunteers have responded with an amazing outpouring of support, each their own way. We at the Birth Freedom Israel Movement reacted immediately, initiating a 24/7 emergency hotline offering pregnant and postpartum women immediate emergency emotional support and actual involvement – sometimes with dramatic results. We continue to make a deliberate and concerted effort to reach out to women in the south of the country who are physically and mentally traumatized. Sometimes we simply listen to peoples’ stories and comfort them. Sometimes we provide new mothers with breast milk and women in labor with doula assistance when their partners or helpers are unavailable or unable. Because of our unique and difficult circumstances, we created graphic instructions for women who find themselves giving birth in safe rooms and shelters while under attack.  We are a small, yet highly efficient organization with close professional and personal relationships and "The Parliament", our Inter-organizational forum, throughout the pregnancy and childbirth community. Our 12,000-strong Facebook followers enabled us to quickly create a group of 150 volunteer social workers, psychologists, doulas, midwives and medical professionals. They were happy to help. Now we are turning to you for help. We have no idea how long we will find our ourselves in this situation; we have no idea how the days and weeks ahead will play out.
