For the Safety of our Community

Har Amasa is a village located on the south eastern edge of Yatir Forest and sits above the Arad Valley and Judea Desert. We are a community of around 60 families, of which 120 are children. The community is composed from a variety of different ethnicities, beliefs and professions. A true pluralistic and consolidated community. Our village is located a mile south of the largest Palestinian cities; Yata, Samoa, and Hebron. These cities are known for housing various terror cells in Israel until today.
On the morning of October 7th at 6:49 our emergency task force received word regarding missile attacks from Gaza. Shortly thereafter, we received the frightening news about the ongoing vicious terror attacks in and around the Israeli villages bordering the Gaza Strip. Within minutes we activated our Emergency task force and immediately began issuing our reserve weapons and gear. We dispersed around the village along the fences and gates, preparing for the worst. Later that day 11 of our 16 members were called in to active Army duty. Leaving the remaining members of the task force and our families to protect ourselves.
In the following days 20 volunteers from our community came to our Emergency Team and established a new Emergency Routine in which we have a patrolling guard within our village 24/7. We have to be prepare for the worst-case scenario; however, we must not put further strain on the Israeli military to protect us during this war.
We are in need for several significant things which will upgrade our ability to protect our village:
- A Generator for our security fence and gate in case of power outages (due to cyber-attack, as we’ve already experienced a week ago)
- Tactic Helmets for the Emergency Team
- Optic Sights for M16's
- Identifying Uniforms
- Security Cameras (Solar-Cellular)
- And most importantly an increased budget for training
Har Amasa must be prepared to face the worst case scenario. We are bunkering down, even eating together within the community to help boost morale. Families are scared, but we get up every morning and continue life! Our children play together in the village. We pray every day that our families and loved ones will return, but reality tells us we are in for a long haul. The community members who remain are single parents with children as their spouses have been called into active army duty. We understand that our community cannot put a further strain on our military nor police units as they are fully engaged in other and more relevant areas.
Pray for the Peace of Jerusalem; and “Never let Masada fall again!”
