A Weekend with the Pseifas Family
By Pasifas - Center for Support and Guidance for Foster Families (R.A.)
Helping adopted children with some of their struggles over a weekend
Donors: 22
Adopted children who are raised in foster homes lack a close personal connection from an adult figure in their lives. Even after adoption, being raised for a few years without a parent can lead to trauma, feelings of being different or rejected, and an inability to connect with others. These issues can lead to educational and social problems in school and at home.
One of the most effective ways to help these children is to set up meetings with other families with adopted children. This helps both the kids and the parents meet others like them.
By having fun together they can let go of some of their defensiveness about being “different” and just be themselves.
That’s why we’ve decided to create a special workshop that lasts an entire weekend, for all of the families that we work with. During the program, parents and kids and make new friends, learn, and grow together. The workshop is run by professionals from various fields who specialize in adoption. Additionally, adopted adults help with the adopted kids.
We need your help to raise the funds to pay for this very important program . Help them shine!
